The following are highlights from the decade in which I owned a successful, independent video store in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to the vast selection of films we offered as rentals, we also established a screening room and a backyard film series which allowed us to exhibit countless undistributed filmmakers from around the world.

Despite the rapidly changing industry landscape, The Video Underground evolved and thrived, due to its innovative market position and dedicated core business strategy.


EVENT MANAGEMENT

I have been managing, curating and producing events in multiple industries for over two decades. Beginning in the 1990s, I produced and curated a weekly film series at non-traditional micro-venues (galleries, bars, art-house cinemas) throughout Boston, Providence and Portland, Maine to rave critical reviews.

During my ten years at The Video Underground, I ran seasonal outdoor screenings that showcased filmmakers from around the world to loyal audiences and leveraged long-term sponsorships from local brands (such as Harpoon Brewery) which provided broad support and cross-promotion opportunities.

Part of my Product Marketing Manager role at M.S. Walker included managing and coordinating the sponsorship of our spirit brands at many intimate and large scale events across Massachusetts. My responsibilities included cocktail creation and beverage management, building experiential and memorable interactive showcases, as well as public relations and brand management. Additionally, I have facilitated the online registration process (organizing and implementing all website and online form building) for corporate trade-shows and trade tasting events involving several hundred exhibitors.


PUBLIC RELATIONS
